Are you surprised? Nothing's out this week. Literally nothing. Perfect opportunity to finish all those titles you haven't got around to yet. January's a yucky month anyway, so stock up on comfort foods and hot drinks and sink into your gaming backlog. Spring'll be here before you know it. Here's a list that contains nothing:
What exactly were you expecting? It's new year's week, which means no games. Are you really done playing through all the great games that came out over the last four months? Always one to buck the trend, Europe has a game coming out that we've never heard of, so if you're really desperate that might be an option. Here's the list:
Merry Christmas from SCEE. Today's update brings three full games, three demos, the normal extreme amounts of music-based DLC and, of course, the LittleBigPlanet Metal Gear Solid pack. Not least of which is Lumines Supernova. There's also a load of the normal music-based DLC, plus some unexpected content for Disgaea 3. As if that wasn't enough, the PS1 classic RPG Suikoden also finds its way onto the Store today. What an awesome holiday gift. Here's the full release list:

Merry Christmas, Japan! While the Western world grows fat on its own laziness (not to mention a massive amount of Christmas food) Japanese game stores remain open to sell five new great PS3 games. What's that strange smell, you ask? That's our pure, unadulterated jealousy. We really want to play White Knight Chronicles. Here's the release list:
In case you're wondering, your PS3 is region free. So, yes, you can import White Knight Chronicles if you so wish. We're not sure if it's the sort of game that will get downloadable content, but if it does you'll have to get it from the Japanese PSN Store. Tempting though, isn't it?
Are you prepared for a massive torrent of content? This may be the longest list we've had to type up and, though there's plenty of stuff you keep you busy til next week, there is one glaring omission in the list. Where's Lumines Supernova? Nevermind, we're sure it will be with us soon. In the meantime we've got Crash Commando and Penny Arcade 2 to keep us entertained, not to mention the demos, PS1 games and massive amount of downloadable content. Here's the full release list:
Playable Content
SuperSonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars price drop (now $9.99)
Crash Commando ($9.99)
Penny Arcade Adventures episode 2 ($14.99)

High Velocity Bowling "Darryl" character ($0.99)
High Velocity Bowling "Gage" character ($0.99)
High Velocity Bowling "Beatrice Holiday Costume" (free)
High Velocity Bowling "Carl Holiday Costume" (free)
Hot Shots Golf: Out Of Bounds costume pack 3 ($2.99)
Got enough money left for another game or two this year? Sorry, we can't hear you, buried under that mountain of this year's games. If you've got the time and/or cash for any more titles, you've got a small number to choose from this week. Here's the full release list:
Release dates are constantly subject to the whim of the gaming Gods, so be sure to check with your local retailer before leaving the cosy warmth of your abode. Your PS3 will play import games, but don't forget that any DLC needs to be bought from the PSN store of the corresponding region.
Sure, Home might be all you can think about right now, but it's still Thursday, which means another PSN Store update. Today's update brings a large amount of add-on content, along with PowerUp Forever. No Doubt fans have plenty of Rock Band content to grab and the first part of the free LittleBigPlanet Santa costume is also now available. Here's the full release list:
Playable Content
PowerUp Forever full game ($9.99)
Add-on Content
LittleBigPlanet "Santa Coat and Trousers" costume (free)
It seems the EU PSN Store is having a few difficulties at the moment. It was working for a few minutes, but seems now to be unavailable. Here's what you can expect to see when the Store is back up and working properly. Those of you expecting Street Fighter or Soldner-X will be disappointed, but we do have the worldwide debut of Astro Tripper. SCEE is catching up by finally releasing Puzzle Quest over here, but we thought game releases were supposed to be simultaneous nowadays? Here's the full release list:
Playable Content
Astro Tripper full game (£3.19/€3.99)
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of The Warlords full game (£15.99/€19.99)
Jet Rider 2 PS1 game (3.99/€4.99)
Add-on Content
Tom Clancy's EndWar "Escalation Pack" (£7.99/€9.99)
Sonic Unleashed. That's it. Though, if you're in Europe you won't even be getting your hands on that until next week. Otherwise, Asia catches up with the rest of the world with Mirror's Edge. Hear that? That's the sound of your wallet breathing a sigh of relief. The end of year barrage of titles is over. Here's the list in handy bullet point form:
Release dates are constantly subject to change. Your PS3 will play import titles, so if you're a Euro Sonic fan go ahead and import it if you like. Keep in mind, though, that if there's any DLC in the future, you will have to grab it from the American PSN Store.
Another episode of Qore this week, but this one's a little different -- everyone can enjoy it because it's absolutely free. If you'd rather spend a bit of money, there's plenty to choose from here, including co-op side-scrolling shmup Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer. Other than that, there's a whole load of DLC for all your favorite games, along with a load of trailers. Here's the full release list:
Playable Content
Qore episode 7 (free!)
Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer ($9.99)
Add-on Content
LittleBigPlanet "Kabuki Actor" costume (free)
3x Age of Booty map packs (free)

Rock Band 2 DLC (listed after the break)
Guitar Hero World Tour DLC (listed after the break)
SoulCalibur IV "character customization pack 3" ($1.99)
Bunch of playable content in this week's European PSN Store update. A couple of full PSN games, PS1 games and even a demo for those of you who might be suffering from a cash flow problem. There's also the normal amount of add-on content, though no sign of pay-for LittleBigPlanet costumes, which strikes us as odd. Shoot! continues this week with "Hands" which will hopefully be much better than last week's pretty awful offering. Here's the full list:
Playable Content
GTI Club+ full game (£9.99/€12.99)
Brain Challenge full game (£3.99/€4.99)
Red Alert Retaliation PS1 game (£3.99/€4.99)

This week marks the end of the brutal end-of-year release period. We're ending on a high note with Prince of Persia's worldwide release. We've been looking forward to this one for quite some time, so hopefully it'll live up to expectations. Europeans are advised to preorder from Play.com for a bunch of free extras (as seen above). More details available on the website. US gamers can also get a free LE upgrade. Here's the full release list:
PS3 games are region free, so go ahead and import any games you fancy. Try to keep in mind, however, that DLC is always region locked. So your US game will only read content downloaded from the US PSN Store. Prince of Persia has been confirmed to have DLC coming in the future. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so check with your local retailer if you have any worries.
We know, it's hard to believe that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remixis finally available to purchase after however many months of waiting. That's not all that's included in this week's update, however. There's a Dead Space demo for those of you who foolishly passed up on this gem when it originally came out, a whole bunch of price drops on some great PSN games and the usual add-on content. Here's the full release list:
Playable Content
Brain Challenge full game ($9.99)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix full game ($14.99)
The merciless Christmas period is coming to an end now and the onslaught of games is beginning to relent. So much so that there are no new releases to be found this week in America. Europe finally catches up with Resistance 2 alongside a few rubbish games no-one cares about. Here's the full release list:
